First Pitch

•   Longwood opens up a seven-game road swing with a three-game set against Binghamton this weekend. The two teams will play a doubleheader Friday beginning at 3 p.m. before playing the series finale on either Saturday or Sunday, whichever provides the better weather to play.
•   The Lancers are coming off a weekend where they took two of three from Presbyterian followed by a midweek win over VMI.
•   Longwood is in sole possession of third in the Big South, although only two games separate third from seventh in the standings.
•   Binghamton leads the America East standings at 12-3 in league play, the only team with at least 10 conference wins.
•   Binghamton swept Bryant in a three-game series over the weekend before falling to Cornell in a midweek game.
•   Longwood is 6-12 on the road this season.

Last Series

•   Longwood took down VMI 10-4 in a midweek matchup on Tuesday at Buddy Bolding Stadium.
•   VMI scored first, but Longwood plated four runs in the third to take the lead for good, and the Lancers held the top base-stealing team in the nation to one stolen base.
•   Jon Howard posted four RBI in the win, and the Lancers piled up 10 runs on 10 hits.
•   The Lancer pitching staff also never surrendered more than one run in an inning.
•   Joe Castrichini earned the win with three innings of one-run ball on a bullpen day. Jackson Nash, Wyatt Bunch and Joe Gomez closed it out.

Around the Bases

•   Longwood enters the game with 169th in RPI. Last year, the team finished 282nd in RPI.
•   The Big South has three teams in the top 100 of the RPI: High Point, USC Upstate and Winthrop. The Lancers took two of three from USC Upstate and will play both Winthrop and High Point later this season.
•   This is Longwood's fourth matchup against a team in the top 100 of the RPI, and the Lancers are 3-4 in games against the top 100 (UNC, The Citadel and USC Upstate).
•   The Lancers are third in the Big South standings and are one of three teams with a record above .500 in league play.
•   The Big South takes six teams to the conference tournament.
•   The Lancer offense leads the Big South in walks drawn at 36. That mark is 36th nationally.
•   Tre Keels has drawn a team-best 37 (31st nationally, third in the Big South), and he is averaging 1.06 walks per game, which is 10th nationally, after walking three times against VMI on Tuesday, April 21.
•   The Big South pitching staff is second in the Big South in ERA at 4:38, which ranks 37th nationally.
•   Longwood also leads the league in strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.54, 27th nationally), WHIP (1.37, 42nd nationally) and walks allowed per nine innings (3.33, 13th).
•   The Lancer pitchers have combined to strike out 8.5 batters per nine innings, best in the Big South.
