First Pitch
•  Longwood wraps up a four-game homestand with a midweek matchup with VMI on Tuesday night at Buddy Bolding Stadium.
•  The game is the first of a midweek home-and-home series between the two teams, with Longwood making the return trip to Lexington, Va. next Tuesday, April 28.Â
•  Longwood is in sole possession of third in the Big South standings, although only two games separate third from seventh in league action.
•  VMI is seventh in the SoCon on the season. The Keydets also took two of three from Radford earlier this spring.
•  The Lancers are 17-5 at Buddy Bolding Stadium this season.
Last Series
•  Longwood took two of three from Presbyterian over the weekend, with all three games decided by one run.
•  The Blue Hose won a tight game on Friday, 3-2, but Longwood rebounded with an 11-10 walkoff win to even the series on Saturday followed by a 6-5 win on Sunday.
•  In the Saturday win, Longwood led 9-4 after striking first early in the contest, but PC used a five-run seventh inning to take a 10-9 lead.
•  Longwood tied it in the eighth, and Brogan Jones had the walkoff RBI single in the ninth to win it.
•  Max Lawson drove home the go-ahead run in the eighth inning of the series finale after PC tied the game in the top of the inning.
Around the Bases
•  Longwood is in sole possession of third in the Big South standings, behind only Winthrop and High Point, with nine games to play in the league.
•  There are only three teams in the Big South with a record better than .500 in league play: Winthrop (10-2), High Point (11-4) and Longwood (8-7).
•  However, there are only two games between third and seventh in the Big South, and the Big South takes six teams to the conference tournament.
•  The Lancer offense leads the Big South in walks drawn, at 214. That mark is 39th nationally.
•  Tre Keels has drawn a team-best 34 (43rd nationally, third in the Big South), and he is averaging one walk per game, which is 18th nationally.
•  The offense is also third in the Big South in home runs with 36.
•  Jon Howard has a team-best nine, which is tied for fifth in the league.
•  Ben Pulliam has 15 doubles, which is tied for 29th nationally and leads the Big South.
•  The Big South pitching staff is second in the Big South in ERA at 4:41, which ranks 40th nationally.
•  Longwood also leads the league in strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.54, 28th nationally), WHIP (1.38, 47th nationally) and walks allowed per nine innings (3.31, 11th).
•  The Lancer pitchers have combined to strike out 8.4 batters per nine innings, good second in the Big South.
•  When the Lancers surrender less than five runs, the team is 17-2 this season.
