First Pitch

•   Longwood returns home from a midweek road trip for a weekend series against Presbyterian. The Amish Traditions food truck will be present on Saturday.
•   The Lancers are home for a second straight weekend for the first time since February.
•   Longwood is tied for fourth in the Big South standings with Charleston Southern, but fourth through eighth/ninth are separated by two games.
•   Presbyterian is tied for eighth but just took two of three from first-place Winthrop this past weekend.
•   The Lancers are 15-4 at Buddy Bolding Stadium this season, and the team has not lost a series on its home turf.

Last Series

•   Longwood fell 7-3 on the road at William & Mary in a game that was tight until a five-run seventh inning put the Tribe ahead for good.
•   William & Mary struck first, but Longwood tied it up with two runs in the fourth inning.
•   The Lancers plated three runs in the contest despite being held to just three hits.
•   Jae'dan Carter and Jon Howard drove in the runs for the Lancers.
•   Braydon Gray, Joe Gomez, Jackson Nash and Jackson Garland all had scoreless relief outings out of the bullpen for Longwood.
•   Charlie Iriotakis and Jamie Laskofski led W&M with three hits apiece, and both drove in multiple runs.

Around the Bases

•   The Big South standings are incredible jumpled, with 2.5 games separating third from last, with most teams having 12 games to play in league.
•   Longwood is right in the thick of those at 6-6 in league play, with the Big South taking the top six teams into the Big South Tournament.
•   The Lancers last made the Big South Tournament in 2018, and the last time the team won a tournament game was in 2016, when the team advanced to the Big South Semifinals after finishing third.
•   Longwood is tied for fourth in the league this season, half a game behind USC Upstate, which is in sole possession of third.
•   The Lancers are second in the Big South in ERA with a 4.31 mark that also ranks 37th nationally.
•   When the Lancers surrender less than five runs, the team is 17-2 this season.
•   The Lancer pitching staff has done so by limiting walks to 3.39 per nine innings, which is the best mark in the Big South and 14th nationally.
•   Freshman Brady Hoover, Saturday's projected starter for Longwood, has a surrendered Big South-best 1.63 walks per nine innings, which ranks 34th nationally. Jaxon Lloyd, Friday's projected arm, is fifth in the league at 2.55.
•   Longwood's pitching staff also leads the Big South in strikeouts (304) and strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.49, 37th nationally).
•   The Lancer pitchers have combined to strike out 8.4 batters per nine innings, good for the league lead.
•   On offense, Longwood leads the Big South in stolen bases (95), a total that is also 20th nationally.
