FARMVILLE, Va. – Senior righthander Wyatt Bunch earned his first Big South Relief Pitcher of the Week Honors after two appearances over the week, the conference office announced today.
For the week, Bunch threw 6.2 scoreless relief innings. He totaled five strikeouts and did not issue a walk over his two appearances. Bunch had a 0.00 ERA, and lowered his season ERA to 0.44, and limited his opponents to only a .200 batting average.
Bunch made his first relief appearance in an 8-6 midweek win against William & Mary, earning the win after pitching 1.2 scoreless innings. He gave up only one hit without a walk.
He made his second appearance in a thrilling 5-4, 10-inning win in the second game of the series against USC Upstate Saturday. Bunch pitched five scoreless innings, where he gave up only three hits without a walk. In addition, he had a career high five strikeouts.
The Lancers are fresh off a series win against USC Upstate and begin a long stretch on the road with a midweek matchup against George Mason on Tuesday, Mar. 24, with first pitch set for 3:00 p.m.
