FARMVILLE, Va. – Avery Nordman carded a top 10 finish in the first tournament of the spring for Longwood women's golf, and she was named the Big South Freshman of the Week this afternoon, the conference office announced.
Â
Nordman tied for eighth at the El Campeon Collegiate to help Longwood finish second, which matched the team's best finish since 2019.
Â
The freshman from Canada tallied five birdies in the 54-hole tournament amid miserable playing conditions that featured cold temperatures and strong winds.
Â
Her five birdies tied for fourth-most in the field, and at a tournament where the average score was north of 85 due to the difficulty of course and conditions, she scored a 77-81-81—239 (+23).
Â
For the Lancers, it marked the fifth time this season that the team has finished in the top five of a tournament in six tournaments.
Â
Longwood returns to the course March 8-10 when it heads to the Chris Banister Golf Classic at the RTJ Golf Trail at Silver Lakes in Jacksonville, Alabama.
