First Pitch:

• The Lancers return to Buddy Bolding Stadium for a 4 game series against Youngstown State University.
• Longwood last played the Penguins in 2009 and won 11-4 in the lone meeting between the two teams.
• Three Lancers had a multi RBI game, led by Robby Newman's four RBI that day.
• Youngstown State finished fourth in the Horizon League in 2025.
• The Penguins went 1-2 in the Horizon League tournament, losing to twice to #5 Oakland and beating #6 Purdue Fort Wayne 13-8 in between.

Last Game:

• The Lancers got their first away win of the season against Elon 8-3.
• Longwood put up 7 hits and both Jon Howard and Ben Pulliam had a two-RBI game.
• The Longwood pitching staff only allowed five walks while striking out seven against the Phoenix.
• Sophomore Mac Tufts had his first home run of the season - the only home run of the game.

• The Lancers are off to their best DI start in program history at 7-1. Longwood went DI in 2007 and started the season 6-2.
• The last time the Lancers had a better record through eight games was when the team started 8-0 in 1997. In that season, they went 13-0 prior to their first loss.
• Longwood ranks first in the Big South and fifth in the nation in ERA (2.16). 
• Longwood is first in the Big South and 15th in the nation in walks drawn with 60.
• The Lancers are second in the Big South and 31st in the nation for doubles with 20 so far this season trailing Gardner-Webb by only one.
• Longwood is first in the Big South and eighth in the nation for stolen bases with 28 on the season.

• The Lancers are 7-0 at home this season, matching their home start in 2024. That season they opened 7-0 at Buddy Bolding Stadium before their first home loss.

• The Penguins took the lead 3-0 in the first inning and Longwood took the lead 5-3 in the seventh.
