Â
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Â
Campbell jumped out to an early lead as six different players scored in the first quarter.
Â
Longwood got on the board on
Bailey Stratton's third goal of the season in the second quarter, and the Lancer offense improved in each segment.
Â
Rogers got going for the Lancers after halftime and scored all three of the team's goals in the fourth quarter as the Lancers had a little momentum.
Â
However, Campbell was able to keep the Lancers at arm's length down the stretch.
Â
Campbell goalkeeper Adria Welsh (3-1) made six saves to earn the win.
Â
Isabella McCullough piled up 11 saves for Longwood but took the loss. She has made at least 10 saves in back-to-back games for the Lancers.
Â
WHAT THEY SAID:
Â
"Unfortunately, we had another slow start," said Longwood Head Coach
Dwayne Hicks. "I'm very proud of the girls for the way they played in the second half. They made some great connections, and that shows the kind of potential that we have as a team. Highlights of the day were the draw team. Gummy had a great day and gave us a lot of chances on the draw."
Â
UP NEXT:
Â
Longwood returns to the road with a trip to VCU on Wednesday, Feb. 25. The opening draw is set for 3 p.m.
