FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — The Longwood men's tennis team finished its weekend at the UNW Invitational with 11 singles wins and two doubles victories on Sunday.
The Lancers won three singles matches in three sets against George Mason on the day. First, Timeo Puech outlasted Ekansh Kumar, 4-6, 6-4, 10-6, before Rufus Plane beat Niza Simunyola, 6-4, 4-6, 10-7.
Daniel Lopez then topped Zavan Fahim in a marathon of a match, 3-6, 7-6 (3), 10-3.
Daniel Borisov won twice in singles to improve to 5-0 on the year. He defeated Mason's Deniz Okyay, 6-2, 6-4, and then Dylan Blenkiron of Johns Hopkins, 8-4.
Lopez and Alejandro Uribe also won twice in singles on Sunday. Lopez rolled his three-set win with an 8-7 (3) defeat of Hopkins' Mukundh Boopathi.
Uribe topped Mason's Shari Saeed, 6-3, 6-1, and Joshua Kim of Hopkins, 8-5.
In doubles action, Lopez and Uribe teamed to defeat Edgar Vilain and Kumar, 6-3, while Borisov and Petter Lindquist topped Fahim and Adria Franco, 6-2.
Through two tournaments in the fall, Longwood is 31-5 (.861 winning percentage) in singles play with Borisov and Lopez each sitting at 5-0 overall. Alejandro Uribe is 4-0 and Puech and Mrdak are each 3-0.
Longwood returns to action Friday beginning the three-day Davidson Invitational.
