FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood baseball played some of its best baseball of the season over the weekend with a sweep of Commonwealth foe Radford, and two Lancers earned Big South weekly honors today as a result.
 
Ried Dittner closed out two of the games for the Lancers, both wins, to earn Big South Relief Pitcher of the Week, and Mikey Urbaniak nabbed Big South Freshman of the Week accolades.
 
Dittner tossed four scoreless frames in the first two games of the series against Radford, which gave Longwood the series win. He struck out four in his four innings while only giving up two hits and two walks.
 
In his first appearance, he struck out three in 2.0 innings to preserve a 5-4 win to open the series. He faced one more than the minimum to get the save.
 
In game two of the series, he came on with a four-run advantage and worked around two walks and a hit to toss two scoreless frames and again slam the door shut on a Radford offense that had put up eight runs in the first seven innings.
 
Urbaniak, meanwhile, batted .500, going 7-14 at the plate with athree doubles and a home run. He had back-to-back three-hit games against Radford, helping power the team to the three-game sweep of the Highlanders.
 
In the second game, he went 3-5 with three RBI and two runs scored while roping a double. He was even better in the series finale, going 3-4 while swatting a double and a home run and driving in three of Longwood's four runs in the 4-2 win.
 
Longwood closed the regular season with a three-game sweep and moved up into a tie for seventh in the Big South standings to close out the regular season.
