The First Pitch:
•    Longwood opens a five-game road swing with a midweek trip to Elon on Wednesday night.
•    The Lancers will also play at USC Upstate this weekend before their bye weekend that falls after finals at Longwood.
•    Longwood closes the road swing with a trip to UNC Greensboro on Tuesday, May 13.
•    The Lancers return home to host Radford to close the season May 15-17.
•    Longwood takes on an Elon side that is tied for fifth in the CAA and is one game back from fourth.
•    Elon has won four straight contests, including a midweek 12-11 win over High Point last Wednesday.
•    Longwood, meanwhile, leads the Big South in stolen bases with 116.

Previous Game
•    Longwood fell in a three-game series to Winthrop that was much closer than the final score suggests in all three games.
•    Winthrop won the opening game 8-2, but the Lancers cut the lead to 4-2 after eight innings. WU scored four runs in the ninth to provide some separation.
•    In the second game, Winthrop jumped out to an early lead, but Longwood reeled it back in. Myles Webb led the charge with four RBI as the Lancers cut it to 12-10 after eight innings. Winthrop scored eight runs in the ninth to, again, pull away.
•    In the series finale, Winthrop took an early 7-0 lead, but Carter Newman hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning. Winthrop punched home eight runs in the final two innings to win 15-2.

Around The Bases:
•    Longwood plays one of its final two midweek games of the season with the trip to Elon on Wednesday. The Lancers also have a midweek game against UNCG left.
•    The Lancers have a few players that are either near or have hit milestones this season.
•    Mac Tufts, who has been hit by a pitch 20 times, is one HBP shy of the team single-season record, which is 21, held by Brian Bassett and was set in 1995.
•    Jae'dan Carter, who has drawn 39 walks, is already tied for fifth in program history in walks in a season with Pete Criscione. He is six shy of the record of 45, set by Justin Mitchell in 2018.
•    Mikey Urbaniak, with 35 walks, is one back of breaking into the top seven. Doug Toombs had 36 in 1982.
•    James Nelson, with 15 doubles, is two shy of tying for 11th in team history. He would climb into a six-way tie for fifth all time if he gets to 18.
•    Nelson has also crested 50 hits on the season, and Myles Webb is close to that mark with 48 hits.
•    As a team, the Lancers have been hit by a pitch 100 times. In addition to Tufts being hit 20 times, Urbaniak and Tre Keels have been hit 10 times each.
•    The Lancers have also stolen more than 100 bases, going 116-141 to lead the Big South.
•    Keels leads the team with 28 steals, and Webb has added 19 steals while Tufts has 17.
•    All three rank in the top five in the Big South.
•    The Lancers are also second in the Big South with 14 triples this year. Both Webb and Keels are tied for second in the Big South with three each, and nine different players have a triple.
•    Three Lancers also have at least 10 doubles, in Nelson (15), Webb (12) and Urbaniak (10).
