The First Pitch:
•    Longwood wraps up a four-game road swing with a trip to VCU on Tuesday, with the game slated to start at 5 p.m.
•    The Lancers swept their opening Big South series against UNC Asheville behind an offense that poured in 40 runs in three games.
•    Longwood earned a pair of Big South weekly awards this week, with Wyatt Bunch named the Big South Relief Pitcher of the Week and Mikey Urbaniak named the Big South Freshman of the Week.
•    Longwood has played 10 games against teams in the top 100 of the RPI already this season.
•    The Lancers match up against a VCU side in the return of a home-and-home midweek series this season..
 
Previous Series
•    Longwood's offense showed up and showed out to open Big South play, piling up 40 runs in three games to sweep UNC Asheville.
•    The Lancers won game one 17-8 behind 10 combined RBI for James Nelson and Mikey Urbaniak. Nelson was a perfect 4-4 in the game with five RBI, and Urbaniak had five RBI while hitting his first collegiate home run.
•    In the Saturday win, 9-7, Nelson, Myles Webb, and Tre Keels each hit two-run home runs, with the three homers a season high for Longwood.
•    In Sunday's win, Longwood plated 13 runs in the final three innings to erase a 3-1 lead and win 14-10.
•    Keels hit a homer in the series finale, giving him two for the weekend.
 
Around The Bases:
•    Longwood returns to The Diamond to take on VCU and wrap up the season midweek series against the Rams.
•    The Lancers have won three straight games for the first time this season, and the team is coming off its first road conference sweep since 2022.
•    It was only the third time the Lancers have swept a Big South road series. The team swept N.C. A&T in Greensboro in 2022 and Charleston Southern in Charleston in 2016
•    The Lancers were awesome offensively, and the team has scored at least seven runs in four straight games.
•    Longwood had at least 10 hits in all three games this weekend, and the team swatted six home runs in the three game span and have hit a home run in four straight games.
•    As a team, Longwood hit .367 (39-106) at the plate in the three games against UNC Asheville.
•    The Lancers still lead the Big South in stolen bases (64), which is good for eighth in the nation.
•    Longwood averages 2.67 steals per game, which is 12th nationally.
•    Tre Keels is fifth nationally with 21 steals and is a perfect 21-21 on stolen base attempts.
•    James Nelson, meanwhile, leads Longwood in batting average at .388, good for seventh in the league.
•    Nelson's 10 doubles rank 33rd nationally and are tied for first in the Big South.
•    Both Jae'dan Carter and Mikey Urbaniak are tied for third in the Big South in walks drawn at 19.
•    Urbaniak ranks third in the Big South in on-base percentage at .518, which is 75th nationally.
•    Longwood has played a challenging non-conference schedule that has featured 10 games against teams in the top 100 of the RPI.
