Scholarships, Softball Field Naming Rights Part of 10-Year Deal

FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood athletics and Bank of the James have entered into a 10-year agreement, the two sides announced today. The agreement includes naming rights for the Longwood softball field as well as support for student-athletes.

Bank of the James will support five scholarships for women student-athletes at Longwood. The student-athletes will be announced at a later date, and these scholarships will be given out annually in support of the nine women's sports.

Bank of the James Park will now be the official home field for Longwood softball, home to a Lancer softball team that has won five Big South Championships and five Big South regular season titles in a dozen years in the league.

"We are excited to work with Bank of the James," said Longwood Athletics Director Tim Hall. "Their generous support really makes an incredible difference in the lives of our student-athletes on a daily basis, and that ties directly in with our mission. The scholarships will have a tremendous impact and continue to help showcase the excellence that our women student-athletes achieve."
