A respected veteran leader in collegiate athletics, Tim Hall has spent the last 20 years as a Director of Athletics at the Division I level and enters his fifth year at Longwood University, having been elevated to Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics. In his role, Hall’s focus remains on the comprehensive success of student-athletes and empowering them to grow as citizen leaders. Â
Â
Hall previously served as the Director of Athletics at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (2019-22) of the Ohio Valley Conference, UMBC (2013-19) of the America East Conference, and Kansas City (2007-13), previously UMKC, of the Summit League. Throughout his career, he has served extensively in conference and NCAA roles, including as chair of the Joint Council of Athletics Directors for the Ohio Valley Conference, America East Conference and Summit League. In 2011, he was appointed as a member, and later chair, of the NCAA Committee on Women’s Athletics. Hall also served on the NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Committee and the NCAA Volleyball Rules Committee. During his time at Longwood, he served as a member of the NCAA Division I Softball Committee.Â
Â
Since coming to Farmville, Hall has guided the Lancers to success across the board in competition, the classroom, and the community. Longwood Athletics has seen substantial growth in capital projects, won Big South Championships, and most importantly, produced student-athletes that excel in multiple areas and achieve record-setting success in the classroom. Â
Â
As an active member of the community, Hall helped grow the athletics department’s overall fundraising by 21% in his first three years. Part of that fundraising effort has included several larger projects to benefit Longwood programs, the student-athletes, and the community. Â
Â
• The home of Lancer baseball, Buddy Bolding Stadium, received an upgrade in the summer of 2025 thanks to fundraising efforts. A new AstroTurf field was installed providing the program with a premier playing surface year-round and the area with a top-level facility. Â
Â
• The Pomp Sports Performance Center was unveiled in the fall of 2025, enhancing the student-athlete experience and the performance of Lancer teams. The primary sports performance facility for Longwood student-athletes now features new rubber flooring, including inlaid Olympic lifting platforms, a collection of top-of-the-line, modular Sorinex weight training equipment, a new HVAC system to control the climate, ensuring the center's ability to host workouts year-round, large-scale Longwood marquees, new lighting and audio-visual equipment. Â
 Â
• Bank of the James Park, the home of the five-time Big South Champions, was christened as the official home of Longwood softball as part of a partnership in the spring of 2026. The 10-year association with Bank of the James announced in February of 2025 includes the naming rights to the stadium and supports women's sports initiatives at the university, including scholarships. Â
Â
• Hall also partnered with various campus constituents to bring the Joan Perry Brock Center to fruition and into functionality as one of the top mid-major basketball venues in the nation in 2023. The home to Longwood basketball also serves as a central community gathering spot for concerts, performance arts events and Longwood traditions. Â
Â
In competition, Lancer programs have continued to grow and compete in the Big South for championships under Hall’s leadership. In 2024, the Longwood men’s basketball team won the Big South title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. The Lancer women’s basketball team earned a spot in the Big South title game in 2025 and garnered a postseason bid to the WNIT. The Longwood men’s golf team won the conference championship in 2023 and produced the Big South Golfer of the Year in both 2024 and 2025.Â
Â
In the classroom, the department has continued to set academic records under Hall’s leadership, breaking the fall, spring, and overall GPA records multiple times. During the 2025-26 academic year, Longwood student-athletes produced the highest Presidential Honor Roll rate in the Big South with nearly 86% of eligible student-athletes earning the distinction. The department has broken the record for highest cumulative grade point average each of the last four years, most recently with a 3.48 in 2025-26. Â
Â
Prior to his time at Longwood, Hall worked closely with partners across the university at SIUE to help more than double athletics annual giving. He also oversaw an Athletics Graduation Success Rate (GSR) that rose to 34th nationally among all Division I public universities. Â
Â
At UMBC, Hall led a department that seized the spotlight with its historic NCAA men’s basketball win over Virginia in 2018, becoming the first 16-seed ever to beat a No. 1 seed during March Madness. Across the board in the America East Conference, Retriever programs won championships, capturing 11 conference titles during Hall’s tenure. In comparison, UMBC won just six league titles in the 15 years prior to his arrival. The department also recorded its three best departmental GPAs over consecutive years, rising from 3.1 to 3.5. During Hall's time in Baltimore, the athletics department opened the $90 million UMBC Event Center, now known as the Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena. Â
Â
Along with his work at the conference and national level, Hall’s service includes the St. Louis Sports Commission, the Southwest Illinois Leadership and Economic Development Council, and the WeCoach Board of Directors. He is a graduate of the University of Toledo and holds a Master’s in Sports Administration from Kent State University.Â
