CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Longwood guard Jesstynie Scott was named Big South Freshman of the Week in women's basketball for a second consecutive week, the league announced on Monday.
Scott averaged 9.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game in a 1-1 week for the Lancers. The Americus, Ga., native registered a career-high 19 points and nine rebounds as Longwood overpowered Bluefield, 128-31, for a homecoming win on Friday.
Scott shot 7-for-19 (36.8 percent) from the field and 2-of-5 (40 percent) from 3-point range for the week.
Scott is the third Longwood player to earn consecutive Freshman of the Week honors. She joins Daeisha Brown, who did on Jan. 2 and 7, 2013 and Kyla McMakin, who did it Dec. 16 and 23, 2019 and again on Jan. 6, 2020.
Through four games this season, Scott is averaging 10.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 steals per game.
Longwood is back in action Monday, hosting George Washington at the Joan Perry Brock Center at 7 p.m., on ESPN+.
