Softball Inks Two Prep Standouts for 2027

Lancers secure Harmon, Price in early signing period

FARMVILLE, Va. — Longwood softball head coach Dr. Megan Brown announced the signing of two players  to national letters of intent in the NCAA's early signing period on Wednesday.

Joining the Lancers as freshmen for the 2027 season are Mazie Harmon and Irelynn Price.

"We are so excited to welcome Mazie and Irelynn to the Longwood softball family," Brown said. "Throughout the recruiting process, it was clear these two young ladies represent what Longwood softball is all about in their work ethic, character and competitiveness. We are excited to welcome them on campus next fall."

A local product from Powhatan, Va., Harmon has played four years softball and three of volleyball at Powhatan High School.

On the softball field, she has been a USA Softball All-American, Select 30 All-American and Under Armour All-American and named to the All-Richmond Metro Team for three seasons. 

A two-year captain in both softball and volleyball for the Indians, she has also twice been part of the All-Richmond Metro Team while being tapped all-region two times on the court.

Harmon, who has led her team in hitting each of her four years, holds the Powhatan softball single-season school record, batting average .507 as a junior in 2025. She also got on base at a .580 clip and slugged .740 last season with 37 hits in 73 at-bats. She had 14 doubles, 20 RBIs, 27 runs scored and did not commit an error behind the plate as a catcher.

She is a two-time PGF national champion with Starz Gold, also winning the Triple Crown Colorado Sparkler National Power Pool.

Price is a three-sport standout in softball, volleyball and basketball at East Forsyth High School in Kernersville, N.C., earning All-Central Piedmont Conference honors three times in softball. She also claimed all-region and all-state accolades as a sophomore and junior with her senior season on the horizon.

Price has not posted a batting average lower than .400 in any of her three scholastic seasons, hitting .560 as a freshman with four home runs, 11 doubles and three triples. 

She has nine homers, 30 doubles and eight triples in her career.
