NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Longwood women's tennis team opened the 2024 fall season facing the Hampton and Christopher Newport in the CNU Mock Dual Invitational at Eyre Courts on Saturday.

The Lancers earned six singles and six doubles victories on the day in the two duals.

Junior Elizaveta Gnilozubova was the only Longwood player to win both of her singles matches, beating Hampton's Melis Sakiroglu, 2-6, 6-2, 10-6, and Lindsey Bergelin of Christopher Newport, 6-0, 1-6, 10-6.

Gnilozubova also claimed both of her doubles matches with freshman partner Hayley Garber. The pair topped the Pirates' Jewell Greene and Sakiroglu, 6-0, and the Captains' Erin Gross and Mia Linam, 6-2.

Junior Oriana Izarra and sophomore Feline van Eijkelenburg also teamed to go 2-0 on the day. They dispatched Masa Mitic and Okuwaki of Hampton, 6-2 and Bergelin and Kylie Schaefer of Christopher Newport, 6-2.

Longwood continues its fall season Oct. 4-6, split between the River City Open in Richmond, Va., and Wofford's Big Southern Shootout in Spartanburg, S.C.
