HOW IT HAPPENED:

Pitchers set the tone early, as Fisher struck out three in his three innings of work.

In the top of the third, Longwood exploded on offense after knocking on the door in the series opener. Casey Gibbs got the scoring started with a fielder's choice that plated Corbin McCloud.

The Lancers would then do all of their damage with two outs. Willie Havens ripped a ball at the first basemen that got through to add two more, and Jared Glinski beat out an infield single to score both Hayden Harris and Havens. Blagen Pado and McCloud added two more hits to the tally, plating more runs. After tallying the damage, Longwood led 7-0.

The Lancers never looked back. The bullpen did its thing to record the team's second shutout of the season.

Longwood added five more in the top half of the sixth with timely singles from Harris and Logan Janney.

Fisher (2-2) picked up the win for Longwood as Brooks Rice (3-3) took the loss for Samford.
