NORFOLK, Va. — The Longwood men's tennis team earned a come-from-behind win on the road at Norfolk State, winning, 4-3, on Sunday.
The Lancers dropped the doubles point, falling on courts two and three, but rebounded to take four of the six singles contests for the win.
With the team match, knotted, 3-3, sophomore Seva Rusin defeated Boris Lunin, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, to clinch.
The Lancers led, 3-1, as Timeo Puech, Alejandro Uribe and Peter Belosevic won singles matches at Nos. 1, 3 and 2, respectively. Norfolk State, however battled back with wins in the fourth and fifth flights to tie. Puech beat Vladisav Gorbatenko, 6-1, 6-1, Uribe beat Deniz Okay, 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 and Belosevic defeated Jakub Solarski, 7-5, 3-6, 6-3.
With the win, Longwood slides above the .500 mark at 4-3, while Norfolk State dips to 4-5 on the year.
Next up, the Lancers begin Big South Conference play on Wednesday, hosting Radford. First serve at the Lancer Courts is slated for 2 p.m.
