Lancers Continue Road Trip At Kennesaw State

Longwood travels to Kennesaw for a weekend matchup with the owls

The First Pitch:
•    Longwood is set to take on Kennesaw State in their first road weekend of the season.
•    Longwood looks to bounce back following a loss at No. 17 UNC on Wednesday
•    Longwood has swept their first two weekend series which has helped tie their best start to a season since 2010.
•    The Lancers are in the midst of eight game road trip. They fell in their first game of the road trip Wednesday at UNC.
•    First pitch for the three game series is set for 4 p.m. Friday night.

Around The Bases:
•    Longwood dropped a midweek matchup at North Carolina, losing 12-3.
•    The Lancers got out to a fast start in the 2nd inning when Noah Campanelli reached base, stole a base, and then scored on a wild pitch.
•    While the Tar Heels struck back and took a 4-1 lead, the Lancers wouldn't be put away easily. Tanner Thomas doubled, Ryan Perez walked, and a passed ball had Longwood just 90 feet from scoring. UNC got out of the jam though thanks to the bullpen.
•    Longwood scored two in the 7th thanks to a Juice Tobin single to left field that saw an error on the left fielder, which helped plate two Lancers.
•    Ultimately Longwood would fall 12-3.
•    Longwood recorded seven hits in the game, a mark they have reached in all eight games this year.
•    Noah Campanelli currently leads the Lancers with a .458 batting average. The Lancers have five players hitting over .300 (min 10 AB). Those five include: Noah Campanelli, Drew Camp, Willie Havens, Hayden Harris, Tanner Thomas.
•    Owen Simmons pitched 4.0 on Wednesday, a season high.
•    Hayden Harris continued his hot streak. He has a base hit in seven straight games this season. He has brought his batting average to .400.
•    Longwood leads the nation in hit by pitches at 32 on the season.
•    Longwood turns to Kennesaw State for the weekend series. A weekend ago, Kennesaw State took game one over No. 10 Clemson 18-1.
•    Kennesaw State comes into the weekend sitting 4-5. They average 6.33 runs per game with a team batting average of 0.259.
•    Their pitching staff hold an ERA of .4.68 where they strikeout 8.8 per game.
•    They have seven or more hits in every game this season.
•    Longwood ranks 4th in the country in doubles heading into this week.
•    Over the weekend Hayden Harris and Drew Camp hit back to back homeruns. This was the first time that has happened this season.

•    While Longwood didn't score 53 runs again this weekend, a stat that is the most runs in a series for Longwood since becoming a division one school which took place in 2007, they still managed to pile on 39 runs in three games.
•    Longwood is now tasked with having 4 of their next 8 games being against top 25 opponents.  
•    Longwood holds a team fielding percentage of .970 on the season with 207 putouts.
•    The Lancers bolster a .320 batting average which is best in the Big South Conference heading into this week. This average includes 26 doubles, a stat that is also first in the conference.
