GREENVILLE, N.C. – Marshall scored six unanswered runs, including four times in the eighth inning, to defeat the Longwood softball team, 6-3, in the Pirate Clash at East Carolina's Max R. Joyner Family Stadium on Friday.

Down, 2-0, entering the sixth, Brooklyn Ulrich hit a two-run single with one out off of right-hander
Er'ron Burton to tie the game, 2-2. Marshall (4-3) took the lead for the first time in the contest when Reagan Glanz, who was placed on second in the top of the extra frame, scored on a passed ball. Sydney Bickel followed with an RBI single to right field, Rielly Lucas added a sacrifice fly to center field and Bickel stole home for a four-run lead.

Longwood (1-6) got one back in the bottom of the inning with a
Sophia Knock fielder's choice, scoring
Lauren Taylor.
Emily Vinson singled left, moving to second on a passed ball. With runners on second and third,
Korynna Anderson bounced into a fielder's choice. Pinch runner
Naleya Bridges was out at home for the second out and
Maggie Hiatt lined to shortstop to end the game.

Bub Feringa (2-1) threw a 129-pitch complete game, allowing two earned runs, seven hits and no walks with five strikeouts.

The Lancers broke on top with single runs in the third and fourth innings. Taylor gave her team the lead with a two-out single to left, plating
Lauren Fox in the third. Sophomore
Sophia Knock then belted her first career home run down the line in left to double the Longwood advantage.

Knock fished 1-for-4 for two RBIs. Fox,
Avery Drake, Taylor and Anderson also notched hits for the Lancers, who left nine runners on base on the day.

Maggie Chapin (1-3) got the start in the circle, went 5 1/3 innings and took the loss. She scattered eight hits and three earned runs and three walks, giving way to Burton and
Cierra Gawryluk.

Ulrich hit 3-for-4, while Bickel and Abby Darnley collected two hits apiece for Marshall.

The two teams play again Saturday at 10 a.m., prior to Longwood finishing the day against Fairfield at 5:30 p.m.
