WILMINGTON, N.C. — The Longwood women's tennis team took on Seton Hall and Mount Olive in doubles and Campbell in singles action on the second day of the Seahawk Ocean Classic on Saturday.
The Lancers won on courts one and two against the BIG EAST's Pirates. Karina Rizvanova and Elizaveta Gnilozubova defeated Anastasia Sereda and Rachel Benoualid, 6-2, and Feline van Eijkelenburg and Alexandra Magia topped Niamh Campbell and Tamsin Hart, 6-4
Against Mount Olive, Longwood swept all three matches as Rizvanova and Gnilozubova beat Simone Szovan and Lara Stamereilers, 6-4, van Eijkelenburg and Magia dispatched Alina Esser and Claudia Cerdan, 8-1, and Kashmira Manohar and Oriana Izarra defeated Sandra Riecken and Julie Jagiella, 6-4.
Longwood won twice in singles action against Campbell with Rizvanova beating Mollie Garcia, 6-3, 6-3, and van Eijkelenburg winning, 6-1, 6-1, over Veronika Prospalova.
Overall, Longwood finished the day 5-6 in doubles and 2-4 in singles.
The tournament concludes Sunday with action beginning at 9 a.m.
