SPARTANBURG, S.C. — The Longwood women's tennis team continued play at the Big Southern Shootout, hosted by Wofford at Reeves Tennis Center, on Saturday.
The Lancers took on Chattanooga in doubles and Western Carolina and Wofford in singles action.Â
Feline van Eijkelenburg and Oriana Izarra dispatched Chattanooga's Savannah Presson and Emma Pedretti, 7-5, for the Lancers only victory of the day.
Freshman Alexandra Magia took her singles match against Western Carolina's Chloe Schwarz to a second-set tiebreak despite falling, 6-2, 7-6 (4).Â
Wofford's Chloe Elliott defeated Kashmira Manohar in a marathon three-set duel, 6-4, 3-6, 15-13. The Terriers' Brianna Wilbur (7-5, 6-0) and Lily Woods (6-1, 1-6, 10-5) took the other two singles matches against van Eikelenburg and Elizaveta Gnilozubova, respectively.Â
The Catamounts' Jade Groen defeated Karina Rizvanova, 6-2, 6-3, Isabella Sambola beat Izarra, 7-5, 6-3 and Andrea Redondo topped Alexis Broderick, 6-3, 6-0.
In other doubles play, the Mocs' Rozalie Dohnalova and Madlena Orlova beat Rizvanova and Magia, 6-3, and Margaret Manolache and Zara Burns bested Manohar and Gnilozubova, 6-4.
Play on the final day of the tournament begins Sunday at 8 a.m.
