FARMVILLE, Va. – Maryanna Guy was named the Big South Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon. This is the second weekly award that Guy has earned this season.
 
​Guy was huge for Longwood across their two games at #13/17 Virginia Tech this past week. The freshman from Brandon, Mississippi went 3-4 with two solo home runs during last Tuesday's doubleheader.

The two solo shots were her second and third homers thus far on the season. Guy also started at catcher in both games and performed well, including a solid throw out to second to catch a Hokie runner stealing.

Guy previously won Big South Freshman of the Week back on February 27^th after batting .345 on the week. The freshman now earns her second weekly award and has become a solid contributor for a Longwood team poised to make a run for the Big South Championship.

The Lancers are currently on the road at Gardner-Webb to continue Big South conference play. Game one began at 1 p.m. today with game two set to be played afterwards. Game three will take place tomorrow at 11 a.m.
