HOW IT HAPPENED:
Â
Gianna New and Hanna Hilcoff keyed Clemson's attack with nine goals and four assists between them as Clemson stayed unbeaten against the Big South this year.
Â
New posted three goals in the first quarter as the Tigers ripped off eight goals in the opening 15 minutes.
Â
Clemson extended the lead in the second quarter, but the Lancers never quit battling.
Harper Melton put Longwood on the board, and
Miranda Helfenbein scored one two minutes later to cut the Clemson lead to 11-2.
Â
However, Clemson's attack revved back up and extended the lead to double figures at the half.
Â
Lauren Cerretani had Longwood's tally after halftime off a nice find from
Riley McDonald.
WHAT THEY SAID:
Â
"I'm proud of the effort from our Lancers today," said Head Coach
Kylar Ferguson. "They fought hard from start to finish and showed up with a great attitude that allowed them to make key adjustments as a team. The support from families and recruits was also outstanding and worth noting. It's a great day to be a Lancer."
Â
ADDITIONAL NOTES:

Emily Cate Smith had an assist for the Lancers, her team-leading 12
th of the season.
Â
