*Due to low temperatures in Lexington, this weekend's schedule was been adjusted to only three games played later in the day to avoid issues with the weather.*

The First Pitch:
  • Longwood heads west to Lexington, Kentucky for the John Cropp Classic March 18-19.
  • The Lancers will take on No. 14 Kentucky, Michigan, and DePaul throughout the weekend.
  • Longwood will play eight teams that are either ranked or receiving votes in the NFCA Top 25 this season.
  • In Longwood's Division-I era, the Lancers hold a 1-0 record against DePaul, but have never faced Kentucky or Michigan.
  • Following this weekend's games, Longwood will begin Big South conference play on the road at Presbyterian on March 25th.
Last Time Out:
  • Longwood concluded play at the T-Mobile Crimson Classic on March 5th before embarking on a week-long break.
  • The Lancers went 2-3 across their five games in Tuscaloosa, picking up victories over Mercer and Robert Morris while falling once to Mercer and twice to #9 Alabama.
  • Longwood holds a winning record through their first four weekends of play despite facing one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the country.
  • Senior Korynna Anderson posted impressive numbers in Tuscaloosa, batting .400 with four doubles and three RBIs across five games.
  • Freshman Maggie Chapin was sensational against Robert Morris, throwing a complete seven innings with four strikeouts, zero runs, zero walks, and only one hit allowed.
  • Alabama was the fourth ranked opponent that Longwood has faced this year and sixth Power 5 opponent, with many more still to come on the horizon.

Quotables:

"I'm proud of [our players'] fight and grit. They are earning a lot of respect for their hard work and dedication." -Head Coach Dr. Megan Brown following the T-Mobile Crimson Classic.
