The First Pitch:
  • Longwood will split time between their home field in Farmville and Palmer Park in Charlottesville, Va. for the Cavalier Classic.
  • The Lancers will take on Virginia, George Washington, and Howard in Charlottesville Thursday-Friday and host St. John's and Maryland Eastern Shore on Sunday.
  • Longwood will play eight teams that are either ranked or receiving votes in the NFCA Top 25 this season.
  • In Longwood's Division-I era, the Lancers are 18-10 against UVA and have won each of the past six meetings.
  • The Lancers hold a 6-0 record all-time against George Washington and a 10-0 record against Howard.
  • Sunday's game will be Longwood's first Division-I meetings against St. John's and Maryland Eastern Shore.
Last Time Out:
  • Longwood returned from the Getterman Classic hosted by Baylor posting a 3-2 record across their time in Waco.
  • The Lancers faced No. 1 Oklahoma, (RV) Baylor, Stephen F. Austin, and Army twice throughout the weekend.
  • The Lancers fell in both Big 12 matchups against Oklahoma and Baylor, falling 10-0 and 7-0 respectively.
  • Longwood claimed its first win of the weekend on Friday against Army, winning by a score of 10-3.
  • Eight Lancers scored runs against Army in what was a complete team effort on both sides of the field. Longwood's ten runs are the most the team has scored since an 11-2 victory over George Mason in April of 2022.
  • Longwood defeated Stephen F. Austin 7-4 on Saturday. Lindsey Hay recorded two RBIs and the Lancers scored all seven of their runs in the first three innings.
  • In the weekend's finale, Longwood stunned Army in a rematch of Friday's game thanks to a Sophia Knock game-winning single in the top of the seventh inning.
  • Sophomore Jaden Pone was awarded Big South Player of the Week for her efforts at the Getterman.
  • Pone batted .588 to go along with three RBIs, three runs scored, and a .611 on base %.
