WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Nylah Young and Cassidy Geddes combined for 39 points and seven rebounds as William & Mary pulled away from the Longwood women's basketball team for an 86-49 victory at Kaplan Arena on Sunday.

The Tribe, which shot 52 percent from the field, limited the Lancers to just 18 points in the second half to improve to 4-6 on the season. Longwood fell to 2-8 with the loss, but was competitive for much of the first half, before William & Mary began to separate late in the second quarter.

Young led all players with 20 points on 8-for-11 shooting with five boards, while Geddes added 19, going 8-for-13 from the floor with two boards and three assists. W&M shot 34-for-65 overall, including 17-of-29 (58 percent) in the second half.

Redshirt senior
Adriana Shipp-Davis paced Longwood with 12 points with four boards in 21 minutes in her first start of the season.
Janay Turner chipped in nine while
Laney Bone had six points and a game-high-tying six boards.

William & Mary led the game from start to finish, though the Tribe took a bit to get going. The game remained scoreless for 2:10 before W&M ripped off seven consecutive points in 45 seconds.
Otaifo Esenabhalu converted a three-point play and later sank two more from the line, to make it 14-5 through the first media timeout.

Shipp-Davis hit a 3-pointer and Turner two free throws to cut the deficit to 23-18 with 1:15 to play in the first quarter. Turner nailed another jumper for 23-20, forcing a W&M timeout, but the Lancers couldn't seize the momentum and closed the quarter down, 25-21.

Freshman
Frances Ulysse put in a layup on the break to help Longwood creep to within 28-27.
Anne-Hamilton LeRoy's layup with 6:46 remaining in the period made it 31-29 for the Tribe. That bucket moved LeRoy into 11th all-time in career scoring at Longwood. She now has 1,307 points.

From there, William & Mary engineered a 12-2 run to go into halftime with a 43-31 advantage. After intermission, Longwood went cold from the field, connecting on six of 27 attempts while turning the ball over 11 times to allow the host to coast to the win, its third straight in the series, which saw its 61st game Sunday and dates to the to the 1930-31 season.

In all, William & Mary scored 29 points off 19 Longwood turnovers, dominated the paint, 36-18, and outscored the Lancers' reserves, 41-18.
