STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Stony Brook limited the Longwood women's basketball team to just 26 percent shooting, forced 21 turnovers and three Seawolves scored 16 points apiece in an 85-49 victory at Island Federal Arena Monday.
 
The Seawolves, the Coastal Athletic Association's preseason No. 2 team, improved to 8-1 on the season with their third consecutive win, while the Lancers fell to 2-6 on the year with the loss.
 
Stony Brook opened the game with a 9-0 run, led 18-6 after the first quarter, 43-18 at halftime and 68-28 after three, while holding Longwood to just 17 made field goals for the game.
 
Zaida Gonzalez, Gigi Gonzalez and Khari Clark each scored 16 points to pace the Seawolves offense, which shot over 51 percent from the floor and made seven 3-pointers.
 
Redshirt senior 
Adriana Shipp-Davis tallied double figures for the second consecutive contest, pacing Longwood with 11 points on 4-for-12 shooting. 
Anne-Hamilton LeRoy scored nine points, while freshman 
Frances Ulysse registered a career-high nine in 20 minutes off the bench.
 
Senior 
Steph Davis added a season-high five points, going 5-for-6 from the free-throw line with four rebounds and a career-best-tying three steals.
 
Stony Brook used a 12-0 spurt early in the third quarter to widen its advantage to 62-23 and hit seven consecutive shots in that span.
 
Gigi Gonzalez dished a game-high six of Stony Brook's 18 assists and Shemarla King led all players with 10 of the hosts' 45 rebounds.
 
The Lancers are back in action Thursday at Duquesne. Tip time at Kerr Fitness Center on the La Roche University campus is slated for 11 a.m.
