LORETTO, Pa. –  The Longwood men's tennis team traveled to Loretto, Pennsylvania. The Lancers took down the Saint Francis University Red Flash with a 4-2 win in their first game of the season.

In doubles, freshman Nikhil Kulkarni made his collegiate debut and picked up a 6-2 win in No.3 doubles alongside junior Ernest Rocabert. The team of senior Guillermo Cagigas and freshman Yoav Weinberg scored a 6-3 win. Longwood's Freshman Luis Reis and Graduate Rosen Naydenov swept the No.1 doubles match, winning 6-2, giving Longwood all three doubles wins.

"The men really showed up ready to play," said Director of Tennis Adam Jackson. "They really executed what we've been practicing in doubles and showed some fight when the match got close. I'm proud of their showing today." 

In singles, Rocabert won the No.5 match against Saint Francis' Christian Banti, 6-3, 6-4. Freshman Yoav Weinberg got the No.4 singles win and defeated Red Flash senior Daniel Vinces, 2-6, 6-4, 10-6. Weinberg's comeback victory was the first of his young collegiate career. Lancers No.3 Guillermo Cagigas fought back against sophomore Marc Fuste, winning 4-6, 6-3, 10-6 to complete the comeback. Naydenov, Longwood's No. 1 in singles, fell to Dominique Veo 7-6, 7-6. Lancers No.2 Jourdan Kast  dropped his matchup against Andrew Teixeira, 6-4, 7-6. The No.6 singles matchup between Reis and Blose recieved a did not finish, as the match had ben played to clinch.

The Longwood Men's Tennis team makes their next outing at William & Mary on February 4^th in Williamsburg, Va.
