FARMVILLE, Va. – The Longwood men's tennis team cleaned house on Saturday afternoon at the New Lancer Courts, taking down Chowan 7-0.
 
The Lancers (3-4, 0-1 Big South) dominated from start to finish, not dropping a single set on the way to the straight sweep over the Hawks (0-3).
 
A strong start to doubles play gave Longwood the opening point, as the top doubles pairing of Guillermo Cagigas and Andrew Ilett didn't drop a game on the way to a 6-0 win over Santino Jose Sormani and Michael Campos. Marc Casanovas and Rosen Naydenov clinched the doubles point with a 6-1 victory of the duo of Alvaro Campos and Corbin Robertson.
 
Casanoves stayed hot in singles play, winning 12 straight games to take down Job Williamson 6-0, 6-0 in his first appearance in the fifth position. Ignazio Sandoval tallied his third singles win in the second position with a 6-0, 6-1 takedown of Michael Campos. Ilett nabbed his first singles win of the young season with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Alvaro Campos in the three position. Sebastian Mezo picked up his second singles victory, first in the fourth position, with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Robertson.
 
In the number one singles spot, Cagigas battled his way to a 7-6, 6-2 win over Sormani. It marked the first time Cagigas had been tabbed to play in the number one singles position in his Longwood career.
 
The Lancers are back in action on Sunday afternoon as they welcome North Carolina A & T to the New Lancer Courts. Play is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
