The Opening Tip
•   Rescheduling a series that was postponed in early February, Longwood will head to Charleston Southern for back-to-back games this Thursday and Friday. The games are late additions to Longwood's schedule, with the Big South adding both this past Monday.
•   The Lancers enter the matchup winners of six of their past seven games and as the Big South's hottest team since Jan. 19. Longwood's six wins since that date are the most in the Big South, ahead of first-place Winthrop, which is 5-1 during that span.
•   Longwood's current hot streak is reminiscent of a similar end-of-season run in 2019-20, in which the Lancers won eight of their final 11 regular-season games to secure a program-record fourth-place Big South finish. The Lancers have currently won seven of their past 10 games.
Last Time Out
•   Longwood's home-court win streak stretched to six in a row following a commanding 83-73 win over Commonwealth rival Hampton Monday in Willett Hall.
•   Led by 21 points and seven treys from
Juan Munoz, Longwood led the Pirates by as many as 25 points and cruised to a 10-point victory that was their fourth by double digits this season.
•   Munoz was one of four Lancers to score in double figures, joining freshman
Jesper Granlund, who matched a career high with 12 points, and forwards
Leslie Nkereuwem and
Zac Watson, who contributed 11 apiece.
•   Hampton managed just 25 first-half points and turned the ball over eight times in the opening frame to allow Longwood to build an 18-point lead by halftime. Big South scoring leader Davion Warren scored a game-high 24 points for Hampton.
By The Numbers
•   The Lancers are 6-2 when they have a 20-point scorer this season. Munoz has a season-high three of those and five for his career.
DeShaun Wade and
Justin Hill have two 20-point games apiece, while
Leslie Nkereuwem has one.
•   Hill was named Big South Freshman of the Week Monday, his third such award this season. His three honors trail only former Lancer Michael Kessens' four for the most in school history.
•   The Lancers' six wins in the past seven games marks is tied for the program's winningest stretch of the Division I era, matching the 2009-10 Lancers' 6-1 tear from Jan. 30 to Feb. 17 — almost the same time of year to the day. Of the 2009-10 team's wins in that span, however, three were against non-Division I opponents.
•   During Longwood's seven-game tear, the Lancers have shot .401 (63-of-157) from three-point range with at least 10 treys in four of those games — all wins.
Juan Munoz has hit 21 of those 63 treys, while
DeShaun Wade has knocked down 17.
•   After hitting a career-high-matching seven three-pointers in his last outing, Munoz passed his former AAU teammate and fellow Lancer JaShaun Wmith for seventh place on Longwood's all-time made three-pointer list. Smith also set Longwood's career three-point percentage record from 2017-20 with a .384 (141-of-367) clip that Munoz trails only slightly with a .379 (143-of-377) mark.
•   The Lancer bench is outscoring opponents by an average of 8.3 points per game this season. Longwood's reserves are averaging 25.2 points per game, compared to 16.9 by the opposition.
•   Since 2018-19, Longwood has amassed a 12-6 record in February. The Lancers are 3-0 this month after going 7-2 in February last season.Â
•   Longwood is 5-0 this season when holding opponents under 60 points. Four of those wins have come since Jan. 19.
Quotable
"We could have hung our heads after the Charleston Southern series got moved, could have complained that we didn't have enough time to prepare for Gardner-Webb, could have basked a little too long in the glory of our win in game one or the national attention we got from D Wade's shot. Instead, we responded to that adversity, finished the job and picked up two more wins to show for it."
