The Opening Tip
•    After taking down Big South preseason No. 2 UNC Asheville 65-55 in their last home game, the Lancers return to Willett Hall Saturday and Sunday for another Big South series against Campbell.
•    Saturday's game will air live on ESPN3, the first of Longwood's two ESPN3 home games this season.
•    Longwood has won five of the past six meetings against Campbell in Willett Hall. The Lancers are 5-3 at home against the Fighting Camels since joining the Big South in 2012-13.
•    Longwood's past three starting lineups have featured four juniors, making it the team's most veteran-laden starting five so far this season. Decimated by injuries earlier in the year, the Lancers were forced to start two juniors, a sophomore and two true freshmen in their first six games.
•    The Lancer bench is averaging 28.9 points per game over the past six games.

Last Time Out
•    USC Upstate's backcourt duo of Tommy Bruner and Dalvin White led the way for a second straight night, combining for 38 points to send USC Upstate past Longwood 65-59 in the Big South rematch Tuesday evening at the Hodge Center.
•    After combining for 36 points in Monday night's 71-69 win over the Lancers, Bruner and White one-upped themselves Tuesday to help the Spartans hold off another late-game comeback. White scored a game-high 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting, while Bruner added 18.
•    The Lancers cut a seven-point deficit to 61-59 with 30 seconds to play after DeShaun Wade's three-pointer, but Bruner hit four consecutive free throws to ice the victory.
•    Wade led Longwood with 13 points. Jesper Granlund also scored 10 points, while Juan Munoz added 11.

By The Numbers
•    Longwood is among the top defensive teams in the Big South, allowing just 71.4 points per game for the third-lowest clip in the league.
•    The Lancers have made a defensive stand on the perimeter throughout their first 12 games, holding opponents to a .319 (97-of-304) clip that is the third lowest in the Big South. Only three teams have shot better than 35.0 percent from long range against Longwood this season, while six have shot under 30.0 percent.
•    Longwood has gotten a combined 21 starts from freshmen this season, the most in the Big South. Three Lancer freshmen are averaging double-digit minutes, including Justin Hill and Jesper Granlund, who are both averaging more than 27.0.
•    Granlund one of only three freshmen in the Big South to have started every game this season, joining High Point's Ahmil Flowers and Presbyterian's Rayshon Harrison.
•    In a college basketball season impacted heavily by the COVID-19 pandemic, Longwood has played 12 games to tie with Presbyterian for the most games played in the Big South.
•    Since guards Heru Bligen and DeShaun Wade returned to the lineup six games ago, the Lancer bench is averaging 28.7 points per game. While those two were hampered by injuries in the six games prior, Longwood's bench contributed just 16.8 points per game.
•    Also since Bligen and Wade's return, Longwood has cut down significantly on its turnovers. In the past six games, the Lancers have averaged just 11.7 turnovers per game compared to 16.8 in six games prior.
•    Senior Ilija Stefanovic has enjoyed a run of strong performances over the past four games, averaging 6.5 points and shooting .800 (12-of-15) from the floor during that span. That is more point and field goals he had during the entire 2019-20 season.

Quotable
"The biggest thing for us right now is we have to continue to work on our consistency of competitiveness and our connectivity. Our team competed well tonight, and as we go into Campbell that has to be a consistent trait for us."
 — Longwood head coach Griff Aldrich following Tuesday's loss at USC Upstate
