The Opening Tip
•    Less than 48 hours after taking on the Big South's preseason No. 1 Radford, Longwood hits the road for a showdown against reigning Big South champion Gardner-Webb Saturday at 4:30 p.m. in Boiling Springs, N.C.
•    Longwood freshman forward Leslie Nkereuweum and Gardner-Webb freshman guard Lance Terry were both top-rated recruits in Georgia's 2019 class, with Terry ranked No. 12 by HoopSeen.com and Nkereuweum ranked No. 33.
•    Longwood junior Jordan Cintron and Gardner-Webb sophomore Jose Perez both hail from Bronx, N.Y.
•    The Lancers have hit at least 10 three-pointers in five of their past seven games after doing so just four times in 10 games prior. Juan Munoz is shooting .500 (20-of-40) from long range during that span.
•    Senior forward JaShaun Smith is just 22 points shy of reaching 1,000 points for his career.

Last Time Out
•    A showdown between two of the Big South's top defenses saw league leader Radford come out on top and overcome Longwood 67-55 Thursday evening in Willett Hall.
•    The Highlanders entered the game as the Big South preseason favorite and atop the conference leaderboard in scoring defense and lived up to that reputation, holding the Lancers to .316 (18-of-57) shooting from the field.
•    Longwood attempted 41 three-pointers – two shy of the school-record 43 the Lancers attempted earlier this season against The Citadel – and hit a season-high 14 of those, but the Highlanders compensated with 22 points in the paint and a 42-29 rebounding advantage.
•    Travis Fields Jr. powered Radford on the other end of the floor, scoring a game-high 21 points.
•    Longwood point guard Juan Munoz continued his breakout season by leading Longwood with 17 points and five three-pointers.

By The Numbers
•    Longwood is holding opponents to 70.0 points per game, the third-lowest average in the Big South and the best mark since the Lancers joined the Big South in 2012-13. Only two teams — Winthrop and Hampton — have surpassed 80 points against Longwood in regulation.
•    Longwood's defense has amassed 71 steals in Big South play, the second most behind Winthrop's 79.
•    Longwood has made at least 10 three-pointers in three consecutive games, including a season-high 14 last time out against Radford. The Lancers are shooting .376 (35-of-93) from long range during that span and have scored 54.4 percent of their points from beyond the arc.
•    Point guard Juan Munoz has hit five three-pointers in back-to-back games, both career highs. He has hit at least one trey in nine straight games, including multiple three-pointers in eight of those.
•    Munoz has at least one steal in 13 straight games and ranks tied for third in the conference with 1.8 steals per game.
•    JaShaun Smith is just 22 points shy of reaching the 1,000-point plateau for his career. He would become only the 23rd player in program history and the eighth in the Division I era to reach that milestone.
•    Smith is a career .389 (124-of-319) shooter from three-point range, which is the best clip by any player in Longwood's Division I era.
•    Smith has also amassed 81 career blocks, tied for the seventh most in school history and third most in the Division I era.
•    Longwood is 5-2 when holding opponents under 40.0 percent shooting from the field.
•    Longwood is 7-3 when shooting 40.0 percent or better from the field.
•    The Lancers compiled a team GPA of 3.13 during the fall 2019 semester, which ranks as the program's highest of the Division I era.

Quotable
"Gardner-Webb is a team we can really compete with if we bring our competitive fire and look to execute. We have to recommit as a team to being competitive. If we do, good things will happen."
— Longwood head coach Griff Aldrich on Saturday's upcoming matchup at reigning Big South champion Gardner-Webb

Series History
•    Longwood and Gardner-Webb meet for the 22nd time in program history and the first time in 2019-20 Saturday in Boiling Springs, N.C. Gardner-Webb leads the all-time series 15-6.
•    Gardner-Webb is 11-1 against Longwood since the Lancers joined the Big South in 2012-13.
•    Longwood's last win over the Runnin' Bulldogs came on Jan. 6, 2018, when the Lancers gutted out a 79-73 victory in Willett Hall. B.K. Ashe had a double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds that night.
•    Jaylon Wilson scored in double figures in both games against Gardner-Webb in 2018-19. He poured in 19 points and hit four three-pointers in the first meeting on Feb. 7, 2019, and followed with 16 more points on March 2.
