The Opening Tip
•    The rivalry returns to Willett Hall this Thursday when Longwood hosts Commonwealth neighbor Radford in Willett Hall at 7 p.m.
•    Separated by just 140 miles, Radford is Longwood's closest Big South peer.
•    The game will be a clash of two of the Big South's top defensive teams with Radford ranked atop the league standings in scoring defense at 65.1 points per game and Longwood ranked third at 70.1. The two teams have allowed opponents to top 80 points in regulation just four times all season.
•    The Lancers have hit at least 10 three-pointers in four of their past six games after doing so just four times in 10 games prior. Shabooty Phillips is shooting .448 (13-of-29) from long range and averaging 2.2 made treys per game during that span, while Juan Munoz is shooting .375 (15-of-40) and averaging 2.5 per game.
•    Senior forward JaShaun Smith is just 37 points shy of reaching 1,000 points for his career.

Last Time Out
•    Behind a career-high 27 points and a perfect 12-of-12 performance from the free throw line by point guard Juan Munoz, Longwood shook off a sluggish start and cruised past High Point 72-62 in a Big South road showdown Saturday evening at Millis Convocation Center.
•    Munoz sparked a three-point barrage for Longwood, hitting five of the Lancers' 11 three-pointers to lead the team to its fourth consecutive win over High Point and third straight on the Panthers' home gym.
•    JaShaun Smith added 15 points, while Jordan Cintron finished with eight points, eight rebounds and three steals.
•    The victory saw Longwood overcome an 0-of-10 shooting start to the game to shoot 55.9 percent (19-of-34) the rest of the way, including a .579 (11-of-19) clip from three-point range.
•    Longwood's defense held High Point to .340 (18-of-53) shooting from the floor.

By The Numbers
•    Longwood and Radford enter Thursday's game ranked No. 1 and No. 3 in the Big South in scoring defense. Both teams have held all but two foes to 80 points or fewer in regulation, the fewest in the Big South.
•    Longwood has allowed only seven 20-point scorers in 21 games this season. Longwood went the first 11 games without allowing a 20-point scorer and has not allowed one in the past three games.
•    Longwood's defense has amassed 65 steals in Big South play, the second most behind only Winthrop's 71. Longwood has forced its first seven Big South foes into 118 turnovers, which ranks third in the conference.
•    The Lancers compiled a team GPA of 3.13 during the fall 2019 semester, which ranks as the program's highest of the Division I era.
•    Longwood is 5-2 when holding opponents under 40.0 percent shooting from the field.
•    JaShaun Smith is just 37 points shy of reaching the 1,000-point plateau for his career. He would become only the 23rd player in program history and the eighth in the Division I era to reach that milestone.
•    Smith is a career .393 (121-of-308) shooter from three-point range, which is the best clip by any player in Longwood's Division I era.
•    Smith has also amassed 80 career blocks, the eighth most in school history and third most in the Division I era.
•    Longwood is 7-3 when shooting 40.0 percent or better from the field.
•    Point guard Juan Munoz has at least one steal in 12 straight games and ranks tied for third in the conference with 1.8 steals per game. He has multiple steals in six of his past eight games.
•    Longwood is the second-best free throw shooting team in the Big South, shooting .731 (305-of-417) from the charity stripe.

Series History
•    Longwood and Radford will meet for the first time in 2020 Thursday to renew a Commonwealth rivalry that dates back to Feb. 11, 2004.
•    Radford owns a 24-7 advantage in the all-time series and has won seven in a row dating back to Jan. 19, 2017. Of those, three wins have come in Willett Hall.
•    Longwood is 3-12 against Radford in the Big South era. All three Longwood wins have come since Longwood joined the Big South in 2012-13.
•    Longwood's last win in the series was a 92-81 victory on Feb. 27, 2016, in which the Lancers overcame a 20-point deficit with 14 minutes to play. Longwood ended that game with a 51-20 run on Radford's home floor.
