Last Time Out
  • Jacob Mitchell crushed a two-run home run in the eighth inning that trimmed the NC Central lead to two, and Longwood brought the tying run to bat in the same inning, but NC Central escaped with the win. An early grand slam put NC Central up, and the Eagles made it stick. 
Scouting Radford
  • Longwood and Radford have evenly split their previous meetings, with each side winning 17 games. Longwood lost its last meeting last season, 5-4, in the 10th inning, on April 8.
  • Radford has lost three straight after falling 6-3 at Virginia on Tuesday. Prior to that, Radford lost two straight to Big South leader Campbell 6-2 and 7-0 after taking the first game of the three game series 6-2. The Highlanders have dropped two straight conference series (USC Upstate, Campbell) after sweeping Winthrop.
  • The Highlander lineup is deadly and leads the Big South with a whopping 47 homers through 36 games. Thirteen players have hit a homer, and eight players have hit at least three.
  • Andrew Szamski is leading the team with a .370 batting average and 39 RBI while slugging .587. He is tied with J.D. Mundy with seven homers. Adam Whitacre (.311) and Spencer Horwitz (.263) have both hit six homers.
  • On the mound, Zack Ridgely has been the team's ace. Ridgely is 2-2 in nine starts with a 3.20 ERA while striking out 26 to only eight walks in a team-high 45 innings. Out of the bullpen, Cameron Fritz leads the bullpen with 34 strikeouts in 26.1 innings across 12 appearances, all in relief, to post a 1.71 ERA. Bruce Hudson (24 K's, 27.2 IP, 10 appearances), Ryan Bywaters (14 K's, 14.1 IP, 11 appearances), Austin Gerber (14 K's, 19.2 IP, 12 appearances) and Cody Boone (10 K's, 11.2 IP, 13 appearances) have also made multiple appearances this season.
