Leading Off
•After taking the final game of the series against Navy, the regular season champion of the Patriot League, Longwood is set for its final home midweek game of 2018 against Richmond.
•The Lancers, in their penultimate game against an in-state opponent, enters the matchup 4-9 against teams from Virginia.
•The Lancers enter with a 10-13 record at home, already with more home wins at Buddy Bolding Stadium than in 2017 (9).
•Longwood currently sits seventh place in the Big South standings, which is inside the cut line to qualify for the conference tournament. The top eight teams in the conference qualify for the Big South tournament.
•The Lancers have two conference series left on the schedule, at Presbyterian this weekend and home against Gardner-Webb to wrap the regular season.
•Richmond enters the week 24-20, but plays #3 North Carolina Tuesday before meeting the Lancers Wednesday.

Last Time Out
•The Lancers were competitive in all three games at Navy, receiving quality starts from all three pitchers. Tyler Morgan picked up the win Sunday with 8.0 innings of work, backed by three-hit games by Justin Mitchell and Nate Blakeney in the 10-2 victory.

By The Numbers
•Longwood is on a home run kick as of late with 16 of its 18 home runs on the season coming in the last 24 games.
Justin Mitchell won Saturday's game two at Liberty on a two-run homer in the ninth, sending the Lancers to an 8-6 victory. Mitchell also homered in the first inning of Sunday's win at Navy.
•Senior outfielder Sammy Miller is the team captain and Longwood's lead-off man. Miller reaches base at a rate of .380 (30-for-79) when leading off an inning.
•Miller owns a team-best .287 average, is sixth in the Big South with 34 walks drawn, and fifth with 18 steals.
•Longwood enters the week tied for first in the Big South with 71 swipes on the season, three shy of 2017's total.
•Keller hit .392 (20-for-51) in April with four doubles, eight RBI, and a .492 OBP.
•The Lancers are the only squad with three players inside the top eight in the conference in stolen bases.
Sammy Miller is fifth in the Big South with 18 steals.
Antwaun Tucker and Jawan McAllister are tied for eight with 13.
Tyler Morgan picked up the Big South Pitcher of the Week award on April 16, becoming the 10th Lancer to win a weekly award.

Scouting Richmond
•Longwood faced Richmond on the road in 2017, falling by a final of 11-7. At the plate for the Lancers Michael Osinski went 4-5 with three RBI and two runs scored in the loss.
•Richmond is led in hitting by Vinny Capra, who has put together a .327 average with a team-high 33 RBI and 16 extra-base hits.
•Anthony Forte has picked up five triples on the season and is second behind Capra with 56 total bases.
•Kyle Adams paces the squad with four home runs.
•Layne Looney has made a team-high 19 appearances and owns a 0.71 ERA with six saves and 43 strikeouts in 25.1 innings pitched.
•Robbie Baker has been the top starter with a 2.57 ERA and 7-1 record with two complete games, one shutout, and has struck out 61 batters in 66.2 innings pitched.
