FAIRFAX, Va. – Senior captain and goalkeeper
Imani West collected another double-digit save performance while senior midfielder
Riley Dolan and sophomore attacker
Kaitlin Luccarelli netted two goals, but George Mason used a hot first half to take down the Longwood women's lacrosse team 21-6 Saturday afternoon.
Led by multi-goal games from Erin Donoghue (4), Hailey Johnson (3), Lindsey Tangeman (2), Julianna Brown (2), and Hannah Warpinski (2), the Patriots stretched their lead to as many as 11 in the first half and took a 14-3 cushion into the break.
Tangeman also dished out a game-high five assists for a game-high seven-point effort.
After the Lancers tallied goals at the 26:07, 23:47 and 11:50 marks, George Mason used a 10-0 run to balloon the lead to 20-3 with under 15 minutes to play before
Dana Joss and
Riley Dolan scored back-to-back goals.
George Mason used a barrage of shots as they sent a season-high 44 at the Lancers as West saved a season-best 15 – her highest total since a 19-save performance last season versus George Washington.
The tandem of Dolan and Luccarelli paced the Lancer attack with two goals and an assist apiece. Saturday's three-point performance was the third in four contests this season for Dolan, who currently leads the squad with 12 points.
Longwood returns home for a four-game stretch beginning Wednesday when Richmond rival VCU comes to town before home bouts with Mount St. Mary's, Howard and UMBC wait in the March slate.
