Biography
2021: Big South Scholar Athlete of the Year... Returned for a fifth season after a COVID-shortened senior season... A do-it-all midfielder for Longwood on the field, the Louisville, Ky. native finished 2021 in the top-two on her team in goals (19), assists (15), shots (64), ground balls (25), draw controls (53), and caused turnovers (15). She scored a season-high five goals against William & Mary in one of her two six-point performances, as she also tallied three goals and three assists at American. The graduate senior also reeled in a season-best eight draw controls against Old Dominion, and a season-best five ground balls against Radford. For her career, Joss will leave the program as the all-time record holder in draw controls with 224 and tied for fifth in Longwood's annals with 70 career caused turnovers.
2020: Named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team, becoming the 13th Lancer in school history to receive that honor …received the Big South’s prestigious Christenberry Award for Academic Excellence…graduated as co-valedictorian of Longwood’s 2020 senior class…also earned her second Academic All-District At-Large citation…ranked among Longwood’s top three in goals (16), shots (40), shots on goal (40), ground balls (15), draw controls (30) and caused turnovers (12)…scored multiple goals in four games, including five against American (2/22), four against Delaware State (2/17) and a hat trick against Old Dominion (2/29)…also dished four assists…served as President of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.
2019: Named to the All-Big South second team…also collected Academic All-District III At-Large honors…ranked second on the team with 32 goals, 20 assists and 52 points…three of her goals were game-winners, tied for the third most in the Big South…scored multiple goals in 10 of her 17 games…had three four-goal games, all of which came in Longwood victories…also put together three hat tricks…dished a season-high four assists in back-to-back Big South games against Campbell and Presbyterian, both of which were Longwood wins (4/13, 4/17)…in the win against Presbyterian, also picked up a season-high nine draw controls…served as President of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.
2018 (Sophomore): Career-high in goals (25), points (34), shots (47), shots on goal (40), shots on goal percentage (.851), ground balls (28), caused turnovers (11) and draws (42)...second on the team in draws and shot percentage...Big South All-Academic Team Member...eight multi-goal performances with season/carrer-high 5 against Presbyterian...had multi-assist performances to begin and end season (Lafayette, Winthrop)...won career-best 5 draws against Howard...collected career-high 5 ground balls at Winthrop in Big South quarterfinals... Longwood Scholar-Athlete.
2017 (Freshman): Started nine of 17 games played...tallied 28 points on 18 goals and 10 assists...scored seven free-position goals...collected 24 ground balls and won 22 draw controls while forcing six turnovers...collected hat tricks versus George Mason, Radford and Campbell...had an eight game stretch scoring at least one goal (3/10-4/12)...named Big South Freshman of the Week (3/28) after a hat trick versus George Mason while also winning six draw controls...Longwood Scholar-Athlete.
High School: Three-sport athlete at the Christian Academy of Louisville…lettered four years in both lacrosse and soccer and once in basketball…captained the lacrosse and soccer squads as a senior…earned all-state first team lacrosse honors after amassing 44 goals, 33 assists, 63 draw controls, 41 ground balls and 30 caused turnovers...scored 148 goals and registered 273 points in just 68 games during her career…earned academic all-state first team recognition as a junior and senior…served as the student council president and member of the National Honor Society…has taken part in several service trips to Central America as part of an English as a second language teaching program.
