FARMVILLE, Va. – Seniors Josh Hanratty and Willy Miezan of the Longwood men's soccer team highlighted five all-conference selections with All-Big South Second Team honors as announced Friday morning by the conference office.
 
Hanratty and Miezan were two of five Lancers honored with Hanratty earning his first all-conference selection and Miezan picking up his second. Those two were joined by freshman Big South Honorable Mention selection Markus Gronli, who was also named to the Big South All-Freshman team along with Jeremy Jaquier. Junior Chase Quinn rounded out the Longwood awards with a selection to the Big South All-Academic Team.
 
It marks the third time in the last four years that Longwood has had at least three players earn all-conference selections.
 
A senior from London, England, Hanratty played 16 games in the Longwood midfield, scoring four goals on the season while aiding the Longwood defense to two shutout performances. A 2018 team captain, Hanratty played 80-plus minutes in 11 games and full-time in six games.
 
Earning his second career All-Big South Second Team honors, Miezan led Longwood with six goals to rank tied for fifth in the Big South despite missing three games while leading the Lancers as a 2018 team captain. With all of his goals coming in conference play, Miezan's six goals scored led the league in Big South play.
 
A freshman from Droebak, Akerhus, Norway, Gronli earns all-conference honors for the first time in his career. He paced the Lancers with his 14 points on four goals, six assists to rank third among rookies. All of his points came in Longwood wins. He tallied a career-high five points for the most points by a Longwood true freshman in a single game in the Lancers' win in the regular season finale against Campbell.
 
Jaquier joined Gronli on the Big South All-Freshman team, as he was one of two Lancers to start every game in the midfield. His eight points ranked fifth on Longwood's roster, as he finished with more than 1300 minutes on the season.
 
A junior majoring in business administration, Quinn appeared in 13 games while making three starts for the Lancers in 2018 en route to earning his first Big South All-Academic accolade. He's been named to Longwood's Dean's list on two occasions and was also named to Longwood's All-Academic team.
 
Longwood will look to make its second run to the Big South Championship game in a three-year span with that quest kicking off Sunday, Nov. 4 at Presbyterian. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. with the game to be played on ESPN+.
