FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood women's tennis seniors Paloma Alatorre, Anna Pelak and Mason Thomas all picked up wins in doubles and singles play to power the Lancers past Chowan 6-1 on Senior Day from the Hampden-Sydney Tennis Courts.

Thomas' win by retirement was her 49th career victory, placing her tenth on the Longwood all-time singles wins list with two more matches left in the regular season.

Classmate Paloma Alatorre took court four 6-2, 6-1 in dominant fashion, giving her back-to-back wins, both coming at home in nonconference action. Her win at four completed the two-win day as she also dominated in doubles with partner Marija Venta for a 6-1 win at court two in a Lancer doubles sweep. Alatorre now sits just shy of 30 career singles victories, and has 25 doubles wins.

Anna Pelak, Thomas' doubles partner the past two seasons, ended her day on a high note taking a gut-check three-set win at court three over counterpart Cynthia Carrier 7-6 (7-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10-7). Pelak's point was the Lancers' sixth and final tally of the day as well as her 25th career singles victory.

In doubles play, Pelak and Thomas pushed their win streak to seven-straight while picking up their team-leading 12th doubles win in the 2017 campaign.

It wasn't just the seniors that dominated the day though, as sophomore Fallon Burger clinched the Lancer victory at court six in a 6-2, 6-1 straight-set win. Burger's singles triumph was her eighth of the season, extending her career-high for single season victories.

Freshman Jamie Breunig took a quick 6-1, 6-0 decision at court two for her fifth win of her career and first at court two.

Longwood hits the road for a Big South rivalry matchup Sunday at Radford before a rescheduled match against Charleston Southern on April 15. Match time for Sunday's bout with the Highlanders is set for 1 p.m.
