FARMVILLE, Va. – 2016 first-team All-Big South selection and former Longwood midfielder
Finnlay Wyatt has signed his first professional contract with the United Soccer League's (USL) Richmond Kickers, as announced by the club.

A product of Sheffield, England, Wyatt led the Lancers to the program's first-ever appearance in the Big South Championship game in the fall. Wyatt completed his 2016 season with five goals and six assists for 16 points to rank among the top 10 in the Big South in points and assists.
Wyatt elevated his play throughout Longwood's run in the tournament, scoring the game-winning goal in Longwood's 1-0 win over second-seeded High Point in the semifinals. For his effort, he was named to the 2016 Big South All-Tournament Team.
"Seeing a young man make his dreams come true in such a competitive industry like professional sports is incredible to see," said Longwood head coach
Jon Atkinson. "Finnlay trained and played like a pro in every session whilst as a Lancer and represented Longwood with dignity and class throughout."
Wyatt becomes the fifth Lancer that Atkinson has mentored to join the professional ranks and the second to sign with the Kickers, joining 2011 Longwood graduate Shane Johnson.

Forming a dynamic pair in the midfield with rising senior
Dan Campos, Wyatt closed his Longwood career with 11 goals, 13 assists and 35 points in 53 appearances, while scoring three career game-winning goals.
"Finno is thoroughly deserving to make the step up and play for a quality organization like the Kickers," Atkinson said. "He's not only a quality player, but a quality person. We not only wish him well but will follow his progress with keen interest."
Wyatt is set to make his first appearance for the Kickers Saturday, March 25 against the Harrisburg City Islanders.
