BLACKSBURG, Va. – Longwood women's tennis sophomore ace
Marija Venta took the court in singles action Saturday at the ITA Atlantic Regionals in Round of 64 action, falling 7-5, 7-5 to No. 14 seed Ines Milosevic from Penn State.
Despite facing off against the No. 14 seed in the region, Venta stood tall to the challenge as she pushed her counterpart and matched her point-for-point the entire match before falling in straight sets by 7-5 scores.
The match Saturday followed Friday's doubles action in which Venta teamed up with fellow sophomore
Jamie Breunig in Round of 64 action.
Saturday's loss concludes the fall season for the Longwood women's tennis team as they prepare for the upcoming spring season looking to repeat the late-season success as they made their second Big South quarterfinals appearance in program history.
