The Opening Tip
•    Longwood has endured a difficult stretch in conference play, losing five straight games to a contingent that boasts a combined 24-16 Big South record. Three of those teams — Winthrop, UNC Asheville and Gardner-Webb — currently sit in the top four of the Big South standings.
•    Head coach Jayson Gee announced Wednesday that redshirt sophomore point guard Bryan Gee will miss the remainder of the season due to prolonged overtraining syndrome. The condition stems from an offseason emergency appendectomy and related complications from the procedure.
•    Gee's absence marks the fourth significant injury for a Longwood team down to just seven available scholarship players. He will join Damarion Geter (broken foot), Jahleem Montague (torn ACL) and Juan Munoz (torn ACL) on the team's long-term injury report.

Last Time Out
•    Charleston Southern freshman Christian Keeling scored 19 of his 28 points in the second half to propel the Buccaneers past visiting Longwood 76-61 Saturday evening at The Buc Dome.
•    After shooting just 4-of-15 from the floor to start the game, Keeling knocked down six of his final 10 shots against an injury-depleted Longwood team down to just eight scholarship players.
•    Keeling's late-game surge halted a Longwood rally that saw the Lancers fight back from a 10-point deficit to cut Charleston Southern's lead to four points with 17-plus minutes to play.
•    Keeling's 28 points were the most Longwood has allowed to a single player this season and enough to offset a 20-point effort from Longwood redshirt sophomore Isaiah Walton.
•    Darrion Allen and Khris Lane also scored in double figures for the Lancers.

By The Numbers
•    Longwood is 14-1 against Liberty in Willett Hall. The Flames snapped a 14-game losing streak on Longwood's home floor in a 69-68 win last season.
•    Khris Lane averaged 8.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in two meetings against Liberty last season. He shot .800 (4-of-5) from three-point range in the meetings, including 4-of-4 from long range the last time the teams met.
•    In Big South play, Longwood is 3-1 when entering the final two minutes of the game either tied, leading or trailing by no more than two possessions.
•    Longwood is 4-0 when outrebounding the opposition this season, including all three Big South wins.
•    The injury-riddled Lancers have five players averaging at least 20.0 minutes per game and three — Darrion Allen (35.3 mpg.), Khris Lane (32.7) and Isaiah Walton (31.2) averaging at least 30.0 minutes per game.
•    Longwood ranks second in the Big South with 4.4 blocks per game and has three players — JaShaun Smith (5th, 1.3 bpg.), Khris Lane (t-6th, 1.2 bpg.) and Darrion Allen (9th, 0.9 bpg.) — ranked in the top 10 in blocks per game.
•    Smith, Lane and Allen have more combined blocks (62) than four Big South teams.
•    Guards Darrion Allen and Isaiah Walton and forward Khris Lane are the second-highest scoring trio in the Big South, averaging 44.1 points per game, trailing only Campbell's Chris Clemons, Shane Whitfield and Kyre' Hamer (45.6 ppg.).
•    Allen is just 53 points shy of reaching 1,000 for his career. Allen, who also ranks among the school's top five in career three-point percentage (.367) and free throw percentage (.806) would be the sixth 1,000-point scorer of Longwood's Division I era.
•    Senior guard Isaac Belton has started all eight Big South games and is averaging 6.5 points per game during that span. Belton entered his senior season without a single career start and a career scoring average of just 2.3 points per game.
