POWELLS POINT, N.C. – Junior Nick Contini of the Longwood men's golf team carded his fourth straight under-par round with a one-under par 71 Sunday to begin the Old Dominion/OBX Collegiate at the 6,550-yard, par 71 Kilmarlic Golf Club.

Coming off three straight under-par rounds and a third-place finish at the Cleveland State Invitational, Contini picked up where he left off with a one-under par, 70. For Contini, it marked his team-leading fifth under-par round of the fall, as he bettered his 71.50 stroke average. Contini enters Monday's second round T-12 on the leaderboard, one shot outside the top-five.

Longwood turned in a team total of 299 (+15) on day one of the tournament, to finish the opening round 15th on the leaderboard. Courtesy of a five-under opening round, Akron (279; -5) holds the lead while Ball State (-3; 281), Old Dominion (-2; 282), UNC Wilmington (-1; 283) and George Mason (+1; 285) round out the top-five.

Freshman Brandon Weaver turned in a three-over par, 74, as he posted a 75 or better for the seventh time in 13 rounds in his first season with the Lancers. A product of Purcellville, Va., Weaver enters the second round T-40 on the leaderboard and three shots outside the top-25.

Coming off his first career top-20 finish at the Cleveland State Invitational, freshman Teagan Stephenson carded an opening round six-over, 77, to finish the afternoon T-63 on the leaderboard. The round for Stephenson snaps a stretch of five straight rounds of 76 or better for the Frederick, Md., native.

Meanwhile, Jordan Boulton turned in a seven-over par, 78, as he sits T-70 on the leaderboard, while sophomore Adam Szwed rounded out the Longwood scores with an eight-over, 79, and enters round two at T-73 among the 93-player field.

Round two of the three-day, 54-hole tournament begins Monday at 8:30 a.m., as players will be sent off No. 1 and 10 tee. The Lancers are slated to go off No. 10 tee, beginning at 9:15 a.m.
