Lancers Primed For Key Conference Series

Longwood, Asheville OpenSeries with a Doubleheader Friday at 2:30 p.m.

FARMVILLE, Va. – With rain expected to impact the Asheville, N.C. area over the weekend, Longwood and UNC Asheville will play a doubleheader Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. The Lancers and Bulldogs will try to finish the series on Saturday, but there is currently a 100-percent chance of rain. LEADING OFF
• Longwood makes its first-ever trip to Asheville as the Lancers face the Bulldogs for just the second series in history.
• Longwood and Asheville met in the Lancers' inaugural season in the Big South as the blue and white took two of three games from the Bulldogs in Farmville during the 2013 season.
• The Lancers are currently tied for 8th, the final spot in the Big South Championship.
• The weekend series marks the beginning of the stretch run. With four weeks left in the season, the Lancers play three conference series which will decide their tournament fate.
• The Lancers are looking to rebound from a tough past ten days, as Longwood has dropped four of the past five games.
Brandon Vick went 6 1/3 allowing just one run on seven hits in a win two years ago versus Asheville.

• 3 - Career highs set by Luke Simpson in Saturday's win over Liberty. The sophomore came on in the second inning and three a career-best 6 1/3 innings, striking out seven and tossing 116 pitches.
• 277 - Career strikeouts for Aaron Myers who broke the Longwood record two weeks ago against North Carolina A&T.
• 64 - Stolen bases for the Lancers in 2015. The 64 swipes set a new school best for stolen bases during the Division I era.
• 8 - Home runs on the season for Kyri Washington, a new career-high.
• 15 -Multiple-hit games for Colton Konvicka and Brandon Delk. The outfield duo continue to be amongst the leaders at the plate for the blue and white.
• 60 - Career stolen bases for center fielder Colton Konvicka. The leadoff man now sits seventh on Longwood's all-time list.
• 12 - RBI for freshman Michael Osinski in the past 10 games.
• 6.1 - Innings pitched by Brandon Vick in defeating UNC Asheville two years ago.
• 9 - The number of at-bats it took freshman Tyler Barry to hit his first-career home run.
• .400 - Kyri Washington's batting average over his past eight games. The junior has eight RBI in that span as well.
