The Opening Tip• After capturing a win in their home opener against N.C. Central, Longwood plays two of its next three games on the road beginning with Saturday's contest at UNCG.
• Sophomore
Micaela Ellis has posted 14 assists this season compared to just three turnovers for an assist-to-turnover ratio of 4.7-to-1. That ratio is the best among players in the Big South this season.
• In her first four games playing at the Division I level, junior
Eboni Gilliam has posted seven or more boards in three of the squad's four games played. Her 5.5 boards per game ranks among the top- 20 in the league.
By the Numbers• The Lancers will square off against three schools from Power-Five conferences — No. 9 Oregon State, Virginia and West Virginia. The three games against the power five is the third most of any team in the Big South.
• Longwood opens the 2015-16 season with six of its first seven games on the road. The first two games of the season come against NCAA Tournament squads in 2015 with Oregon St. and James Madison. In addition, Virginia -- the third opponent for the Lancers -- were among the field at the 2015 WNIT.

Raven Williams and
Daeisha Brown are poised to break the 1,000 point mark this season. Williams sits 189 points shy of the 1,000 point mark, while Brown is 176 points away to start the season

Raven Williams is the Big South's lone returning player to rank among the top-10 in the league in points (14.3 PPG, 4th), assists (2.2 APG, 6th), steals (1.5 SPG, 6th), and minutes played (34.7 MPG, 3rd).

Micaela Ellis is among the top-10 in the league in assists (3.5 APG) this season and ranks at the top of the charts in conference in assist-to-turnover ratio (4.7).
• Longwood's
Daeisha Brown played limited minutes in her anticipated return to the court since tearing her ACL in the third game of last season. She made her first start since the injury in the squad's last game at James Madison.
• Longwood added five players to its roster for the 2015-16 season.
Eboni Gilliam comes to Longwood after two seasons at Cape Fear Community College, while
Ciarah Bennett,
Ashlee Jones,
Kemari Jones and
Kate Spradlin join the Lancers from the high school ranks.
Last Time Out• Behind a balanced effort that saw four players finish in double-figure scoring, the Longwood women's basketball team earned a 60-49 victory in its home opener over N.C. Central Tuesday night inside Willett Hall.
• Spurred behind double-digit points from
Deborah Headen (12), Kyndal Skersick (11),
Daeisha Brown (10) and Eboni Gilliam (10), the Lancers enjoyed a balanced attack.
• The Lancers were able to move the ball with ease, recording 14 assists on the night led by a career-high six assists from sophomore
Micaela Ellis, who ranked top-10 in assists in the Big South entering the contest.
Scouting UNCG• UNCG enters Saturday's game with a 2-3 overall record in the 2015-16 season, having defeated Pfeiffer and High Point. In their most recent game, the Spartans fell to Gardner-Webb in Boiling Springs, N.C., 59-57.
• Longwood will be the third Big South team on UNCG's schedule for the 2015-16 season. The Spartans have also recorded a win against High Point inside Fleming Gym, while falling to Gardner-Webb in Boiling Springs. In addition the Spartans will face UNC Asheville later this season.
• Lucy Mason is the leading scorer for the Spartans this season. She has scored at least 20 points in each game that the Spartans have played this season, including a career-high 42 points against High Point. She scored 24 points in last season's game in Farmville.
• The Spartans were tabbed sixth in the Southern Conference Preseason Poll for the 2015-16 season.
