FARMVILLE, Va. – Former Longwood men's golf standout
Blake Carter is set to begin his professional career, as he will tee it up this week for the first time since turning pro.
Carter, the product of Bassett, Va., will debut at Mimosa Hills Country Club in Morganton, N.C., on the GPro Tour on Oct. 29. The event is the third event of series seven in the Tour's 2015 season.
"This is all I've wanted to do since I was a kid," Carter said. "I've hit a lot of balls and practiced to the point to where my game is in a good place. I'm excited and ready to go."
The GPro Tour was established in February 2013 and hosts 25+ events annually on many of the finest golf courses throughout the Carolinas. The season is divided into a
number of series with each series paying out bonus money.
In his four-year Longwood career, Carter posted five top-10 finishes including his victory at the Cornell Invitational in 2014. A 2014-15 VaSID all-state honoree, Carter posted a career 72.5 scoring average in 98 rounds at Longwood.
