Lifsey has been a standout for the Lancers in conference play with a .380 league-only batting average, good for second on the squad. 2013 Championship Run in Review
No. 3 seeded Longwood went 5-1 in its first-ever Big South Tournament, surviving five consecutive elimination games, to win the title. The squad dropped its first-round game against No. 6 Liberty University, 5-3, on May 9. The Flames broke a 3-3 tie in the top of the seventh with a home run and a RBI single, and the Lancers were unable to get the runs back in their final at-bat. Longwood moved on to face No. 7 Gardner-Webb University and No. 9 Charleston Southern University in elimination games on May 10. Sophomore Megan Baltzell hit a two-run, walk-off homer in the bottom of the seventh to earn a 4-2 victory for the Lancers, eliminating Gardner-Webb. Against Charleston Southern, Longwood pulled ahead with a two-RBI double from sophomore Kori Nishitomi and later sealed the 8-2 decision with a five-run rally in the sixth.

Longwood then advanced to the semifinal round on May 11 against No. 2 Campbell. The Lancers led 3-1 after three innings and added one more run in each of the last two innings, thanks to another home run from Baltzell and a CU error, to take the 5-1 decision and force the "if necessary" game to determine who would advance to the title game. Campbell jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but Longwood was aided by three home runs and five RBI from freshman Emily Murphy to secure the 8-6 victory and championship berth. The Lancers jumped ahead early in the championship game against Winthrop on May 12, taking a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the third on a two-run home run by sophomore Chelsea Sciacca. Longwood doubled its margin in the fourth with back-to-back homers from senior Brooke Short and Sciacca. Winthrop extended the game by half an inning with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth, but Nishitomi sent a double to left to score two and secure the 10-2 mercy-rule victory for the Lancers.
