FARMVILLE, Va. --
Victories by Belen Rivera and Rebekah Jenkins in singles play, as well as the duet of Brittany Yang and Rivera gaining a win in doubles, led Liberty University to a 7-0 Big South Conference women's tennis victory at Longwood University on Wednesday in Farmville. The combo of junior Malin Allgurin/Värnamo, Sweden  and senior Sarah Moomau/Winchester picked up the lone victory for the Lancers (3-10, 1-8 Big South) on Senior Day in doubles against the visiting Flames (13-8, 7-2 Big South). Longwood will travel to Boiling Springs, North Carolina on Tuesday, April 15 to begin the first round of Big South Conference Women's Tennis Championship.

"Today was senior day, and also our last home match, so it was bitter-sweet in several ways," said first-year Longwood head coach Casey Wharton. "It was great to honor Bethany Law and Sarah Moomau, for all that they have done and sacrificed for Longwood women's tennis ... they will be missed next year.  Now, we look forward to the conference tournament, where we plan to be a force to all those teams that may have written us off!"

In singles, Rivera defeated Allgurin 6-1, 6-2, at No. 1, while Jenkins defeated freshman Paloma Alatorre/Katy, Texas 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2, and Mariely Hassey defeated Moomau 6-3, 6-2, at No. 3.
