Longwood Welcomes Presbyterian This Weekend

FARMVILLE, Va. –
Longwood University will welcome South Division opponent Presbyterian College this weekend, April 25-27, for a three-game Big South Conference baseball series at Bolding Stadium in Farmville.  The Lancers enter the league series with a record of 17-24 overall, 6-12 in the Big South, and are scheduled to host the Blue Hose (13-26-1, 5-13 Big South) on Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.  The Friday game will be broadcast locally on WVHL Radio, Kickin' Country 92.9 FM or via the Internet at wvhl.net, while the Saturday and Sunday games will be video-streamed live on the Big South Network.

Series History
Longwood and Presbyterian have met just three times previously (last season in Clinton, South Carolina) and the Lancers lead the all-time series, 2-1.

Pitching Rotations
Longwood will have a pitching rotation that features junior RHP Aaron Myers (5-3, 1.89 ERA) on Friday, junior LHP Brandon Vick (4-4, 3.18 ERA) on Saturday and a starter to be determined on Sunday.  Presbyterian is expected to counter with junior LHP Beau Dees (4-3, 3.78 ERA) on Friday, senior RHP Chandler Knox (5-5, 3.34 ERA) on Saturday and freshman RHP Aaron Lesiak (1-4, 4.06 ERA) on Sunday.

A Look At Longwood Offensively
Longwood is batting .262 through 41 games while averaging 4.5 runs with 25 home runs, 10 triples, 62 doubles, 176 RBI and 40 stolen bases.  Matt Dickason (.345, 1 HR, 3 3B, 13 2B, 17 RBI, 22 R, 4 SB) has led the Lancers, followed by Brandon Delk (.314, 8 HR, 2 3B, 5 2B, 31 RBI, 24 R, 1 SB), Kyri Washington (.277, 7 HR, 1 3B, 12 2B, 26 RBI, 26 R, 10 SB), Scott Burkett (.273, 2 HR, 10 2B, 15 RBI, 17 R) and C.J. Roth (.272, 2 3B, 2 2B, 12 RBI, 18 R, 2 SB).

A Look At Longwood Pitching
Longwood has a team ERA of 4.17 over 364.1 innings with 268 strikeouts and 159 walks while limiting the opposition to a .258 batting average.  In addition to Myers and Vick in starting roles, freshman RHP Mitchell Kuebbing (1-3, 3.00 ERA, 39.0 IP, 28K, two saves), RHP Scott Burkett (2-1, 3.86 ERA, 14.0 IP, 9K, one save) and sophomore RHP Travis Burnette (1-4, 4.24 ERA, 40.1 IP, 20K, four saves) have been solid out of the bullpen.

Perfect Near The End
Longwood is a perfect 15-0 this season when leading after seven innings, and 16-1 when leading after eight innings.

Up Next
Longwood is idle for semester exams next week, April 28-May 2, before playing a non-conference series at Duke University of the Atlantic Coast Conference in Durham, North Carolina on May 4-5.
